Credit Where Credit Is Due (CWCID) was founded in 1994 and promotes economic empowerment among low-income families in Upper Manhattan by increasing access to, understanding of, and control over financial services.

CWCID’s mission of financial empowerment is pursued via the delivery of a continuum of services, committed to providing tangible financial and educational services which have a real impact on people’s lives.

In 1997, CWCID earned the Federal Charter to open Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union.  As a community development credit union, a cooperatively owned and managed financial institution, Neighborhood Trust provides both affordable financial services and an opportunity for our low-income community to experience the power of participatory democracy and a real shareholder role.

And Credit Where Credit Is Due serves to complement this set of tools and services with a range of financial education programs so that all members of our community can become informed participants in our economy, realize their potential, and achieve financial mobility and long-term wealth creation dreams.
